How long does the camel trek to the Merzouga desert camp take, and what can I experience along the way?

A camel trek to the desert camp in Merzouga usually takes about 1 to 1.5 hours each way, depending on several factors.

Most tours are carefully timed so you depart in the late afternoon, allowing you to ride across the golden dunes during sunset.
