What to Expect – Weather and Travel Tips while taking a 8 days from Casablanca to Marrakech Morocco trip

During this 8 day tour, you’ll travel across a variety of regions in Morocco from coastal cities to desert landscapes and mountain areas so please expect noticeable climate changes along the way. Summers, especially from June to August, can be extremely hot, particularly in the south and desert areas. In contrast, winters (December to February) can get quite cold, especially at night in the mountains and Sahara.

Before you travel, it’s a good idea to check the local weather forecast and pack appropriate clothing based on the season. Lightweight clothes are ideal for summer, while warm layers and a jacket are essential during winter months.

Additionally, keep in mind that Morocco experiences a high travel season in spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November), when the weather is most pleasant. During these peak periods, tours tend to be more expensive and fill up quickly. Therefore, it’s best to book a few months in advance. For a more relaxed and budget  experience, consider traveling in the low season.

Itinerary: 8 days from Casablanca to Marrakech Morocco itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Casablanca

Your 8 days  tour will begins with a  pick-up from Casablanca Airport, followed by a smooth transfer to your hotel. Take time to relax or explore the city depending on your arrival time.

 

Day 2Casablanca – Rabat – Chefchaouen

After breakfast your driver will pick you up at 8:30 , you ‘ll leave Casablanca and drive toward Rabat. Along the way,  you’ll stop to explore the  Hassan Tower, and the Oudayas Kasbah. Later in the afternoon, you’ll continue your  journey across  the amazing Rif Mountains to reach Chefchaouen, known as the Blue City.

Day 3Chefchaouen - Volubilis - Meknes - Fes

In the morning, you’ll enjoy a short walk Into  Chefchaouen  blue streets. After that, you’ll drive toward the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis. Explore its impressive mosaics and structures that reveal Morocco’s Roman past. Next, you’ll  stop in Meknes, a former imperial city, where you visit Bab Mansour, El Hedim Square, and the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum. By late afternoon, continue your journey to Fes, where you’ll check in and settle for the night in an authentic Riad.

Day 4Exploring Fes with a local guide

Today is fully dedicated to exploring the cultural heart of Morocco. The visit will start at 9:30 am from your riad , with your local guide, you’ll walk through the medieval medina, by visiting a plenty of historical attractions inclusing, Al Quaraouiyine University,  famous tanneries, and explore the artisan quarters. After a full day of discoveries, you’ll have a lunch at a local restaurant in the heart of the medina then return to your riad and enjoy a peaceful evening.

 

Day 5Fes – Ifrane – Midelt – Merzouga (Sahara Desert)

After breakfast, you’ll head south through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Make a short stop in Ifrane, known for its clean streets and alpine-style architecture. Continue through cedar forests to have fun with wild mokeys then,  stop for lunch in Midelt or whenever you need to eat. In the afternoon, we’ll continue our desert trip  to Merzouga. Upon your  arrival, you’ll ride camels into the golden dunes of the Sahara and enjoy the sunset. Spend the night in a desert camp with dinner and traditional music around campfire with locals.

 

Day 6Merzouga – Rissani - Todra Gorges – Dades Valley

Today you’ll wake  up early to catch a magical sunrise over the dunes of Merzouga. After breakfast, you’ll return to the village by camel or 4×4. Before leaving the desert, make a short stop in Rissani, a traditional town known for its bustling souk and as the birthplace of Morocco’s ruling dynasty. You’ll troll through its local market and experience a glimpse of authentic desert life. Then, continue driving through desert towns toward the dramatic Todra Gorges, where you can take a short walk between the towering cliffs. Later in the afternoon, travel to the attaractive  Dades Valley for an overnight stay in a charming hotel overlooking the green valley.

Day 7Dades Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – High Atlas - Marrakech

After breakfast, you’ll follow the legendary Road of a Thousand Kasbahs. Stop in Ouarzazate, a city known for its film studios and desert landscapes. Then, you’ll explore the fortified village of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the afternoon, we’ll cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass ( 2260 M ) and arrive in Marrakech by evening.

 

Day 8Marrakech City tour – Departure to the Airport

If time allows, begin your day with a 4-hour guided tour of Marrakech. You’ll visit some of the city’s must-see landmarks, such as the Koutoubia Mosque, Saadian Tombs, Bahia Palace, and the  souks around Jemaa El-Fna Square. Your guide will share insights into the city’s vibrant culture and it’s rich history as you explore the medina on foot. Transfer to the Marrakech Menara Airport  at the time of departure.
