Expect long but scenic drives through some of Morocco’s most diverse landscapes, including the Anti-Atlas Mountains, Draa Valley, the Sahara Desert, and the High Atlas Mountains. Along the way, you will visit historic kasbahs, traditional villages, palm groves, and dramatic canyons.
You will also enjoy a camel trek across the golden dunes of Merzouga and spend a memorable night in a luxury desert camp under the stars. Be prepared for warm temperatures during much of the year, while evenings and winter nights can be surprisingly cool.
Comfortable clothing, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a camera are highly recommended. Finally, keep in mind that travel times may vary due to weather, road conditions, or photo stops, allowing you to fully enjoy Morocco’s stunning scenery.
Your journey begins with an early departure from the coastal city of Essaouira. Travel south along the Atlantic coast before turning inland toward the spectacular Anti-Atlas Mountains. Along the way, enjoy changing landscapes ranging from ocean views to arid mountain scenery and traditional villages.
Continue through the famous Draa Valley, one of Morocco’s longest and most beautiful palm groves, stretching for hundreds of kilometers along the Draa River. The valley is dotted with ancient kasbahs, lush oases, and traditional mud-brick villages that offer a glimpse into authentic southern Morocco.
Arrive in Ouarzazate in the late afternoon. Known as the “Gateway to the Desert,” Ouarzazate is famous for its cinematic heritage and impressive kasbahs.

After breakfast, continue your adventure through the magnificent Draa Valley, passing countless palm groves, ksars, and desert settlements. The route offers some of the most authentic Saharan landscapes in Morocco.
Continue toward Alnif, often referred to as Morocco’s capital of trilobites. This region is renowned for its rich fossil deposits dating back hundreds of millions of years. You may have the opportunity to visit a local fossil workshop and learn about the area’s fascinating geological history.
Travel onward to Rissani, the historic gateway to the Sahara Desert and former capital of the ancient Tafilalt region. Rissani remains an important commercial center and is known for its traditional markets and rich desert heritage.
In the afternoon, arrive in Merzouga at the edge of the spectacular Erg Chebbi dunes. Exchange your vehicle for camels and embark on a memorable trek across the golden dunes as the sun sets over the Sahara.
Reach your luxury desert camp where you will enjoy dinner, traditional music, and a magical night under a sky filled with stars.

Wake up early to witness an unforgettable Sahara sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, return to Merzouga by camel or 4×4 vehicle and continue your journey.
Drive to Erfoud, famous for its fossil workshops and date production. Continue through desert landscapes and oasis towns toward the spectacular Todra Valley.
Arrive at Todra Gorge, one of Morocco’s most impressive natural wonders. The canyon walls rise dramatically to over 300 meters, creating a paradise for photographers and hikers.
After lunch and a walk through the gorge, continue through the Valley of Roses and the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs before reaching the beautiful Dades Valley.

Following breakfast, depart from Dades Valley and travel toward the famous UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Benhaddou. This spectacular fortified village has served as a backdrop for numerous international films and television productions.
After exploring the kasbah and enjoying lunch, continue along the former caravan route toward the historic Telouet Kasbah. Once the residence of the powerful Glaoui family, the kasbah showcases remarkable architecture and intricate decorative craftsmanship.
Cross the breathtaking High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, enjoying panoramic views and traditional mountain villages along the way.
Arrive in Marrakech in the evening, where your memorable four-day journey comes to an end.
Our first night in Ouarzazate was a great introduction to southern Morocco. The following day, we traveled through endless palm groves and traditional villages before reaching the magnificent Erg Chebbi dunes. The camel ride at sunset and the night in the desert camp were the highlights of the trip. Watching the stars in the silence of the Sahara was simply magical.
This 4-day tour exceeded all our expectations. From the moment we left Essaouira, every day offered something different and exciting. The landscapes changed constantly, from the Anti-Atlas Mountains and the lush Draa Valley to the golden dunes of Merzouga.
