It’s an ideal itinerary for travelers who plan to land in Tangier and depart from Marrakech. Although it’s the shortest route from Tangier to the Sahara Desert, the journey offers a rich variety of attractions along the way. From cultural cities and ancient medinas to gorgeous desert landscapes, this tour combines Morocco’s diverse regions into one unforgettable experience.

During this tour, you’ll experience diverse landscapes from coastal cities to desert dunes which means the climate can vary significantly depending on the region and time of year. Summers in the desert can be extremely hot, while evenings may still feel cool. In contrast, winter nights can be very cold, especially in the mountains and desert areas. Therefore, we highly recommend checking the weather conditions in Morocco for the month of your travel and packing accordingly.
Additionally, this tour includes long drives between destinations to cover the rich variety of sites in a short time. If you prefer a slower pace or wish to explore more places in depth, we can easily customize the itinerary by adding extra days to suit your preferences.
The 4 days tour Tangier to Marrakech will begin with a pick up from your hotel or Airport in Tangier and drive across the beautiful Rif Mountains. Shortly after, we arrive in Chefchaouen, where you can stroll through its iconic blue painted streets and enjoy lunch in the little medina square. In the afternoon, we continue toward Fes, one of Morocco’s oldest imperial cities. We’ll end the day by checking into an authentic riad and relaxing for the evening.
After breakfast at 8:30 am, we leave Fes and drive to the south via the Middle Atlas Mountains. First, we stop in Ifrane, a town known for its alpine style architecture. Then, we’ll visit Azrou, where wild monkeys live in the cedar forests. After lunch in Midelt or somwhere else on the way whenever needed. Then, we follow the Ziz Valley and continue toward the desert village of Merzouga. Upon arrival, we ride camels across the Erg Chebbi dunes and reach our desert camp just in time for sunset. We enjoy dinner and traditional music under the starry sky.
Early morning, you’ll wake up to watch the sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, shower in the camp , we’ll take a camel ride back to the village, we ‘ll drive to Rissani, a town rich in history and local culture. We ‘ll explore its traditional market before continuing to the gorgeous Todra Gorges, where you can walk between towering cliffs. Later, we drive along the Dades Valley, stopping for photos at rock formations and panoramic viewpoints. We end the day in a hotel overloking the valley and beautiful nature.
The final day of our tangier desert tour, we’ll continue our driving along the Road of 1000 Kasbahs, passing through small Berber villages. Next, we’ll visit Ouarzazate, home to Atlas Film Studios, and then explore the famous Ait BenHaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1987. In the afternoon, we ‘ll cross the High Atlas Mountains via the attractive Tizi n’Tichka Pass. We arrive in Marrakech by early evening, where your tour will be ending around 18:00 pm and drop off in your Hotel or riad.
