Itinerary of Marrakech to Chefchaouen 5 days trip

Day 1Marrakech – Ait Benhaddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley (Approx. 330 km)

To begin, your driver will pick you up at 8:30 AM from your accommodation in Marrakech. Then, travel  Tizi n’Tichka, enjoying mountain views and Berber villages. Next, visit Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO-listed ksar. After lunch, continue to Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa.” Finally, drive along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs to Dades Valley for dinner and overnight.

Day 2Dades Valley – Todra Gorge – Merzouga (Approx. 270 km)

After breakfast, explore Dades Valley before heading to Todra Gorge for a short walk between high cliffs. Then, pass through Erfoud and Rissani en route to Merzouga. Upon arrival, enjoy a camel trek across the dunes of Erg Chebbi. End the day with a sunset, followed by dinner and music at a desert camp.

Day 3Merzouga – Ziz Valley – Cedar Forest – Fes (Approx. 470 km)

Next, wake early for sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, drive toward Fes via Errachidia. Along the way, enjoy views of Ziz Valley, then cross the Middle Atlas Mountains through Midelt and Azrou. You may spot Barbary macaques in the cedar forest. Finally, stop in Ifrane before arriving in Fes for the night. Note: this is the longest day.

Day 4Fes Sightseeing (Local visits)

Afterward, explore Fes with a local guide. Visit University of al-Qarawiyyin, Bou Inania Madrasa, the traditional tanneries, and the Royal Palace gate. Then, enjoy a panoramic view of the medina before returning to your riad.

Day 5Fes – Meknes – Volubilis – Chefchaouen (Approx. 260 km)

Finally, depart Fes toward Chefchaouen. First, stop in Meknes to visit Bab Mansour and other highlights. Next, explore the Roman ruins of Volubilis. Then, continue through the Rif Mountains before arriving in Chefchaouen, where your tour ends.
